STUDENT OUTCOMES. These are real results from real students. I work with singers, speakers, and voice rehabilitation clients across the country, and what you will find on this page reflects the breadth of what is possible when the work is done right. Whether a student came to me with stage fright, a damaged voice, or a dream of performing at the national level, this is the kind of progress I help people make.

Voice Lessons Outcomes

Italy — summer opera program

One of my students was accepted into a competitive summer opera program that traveled to Italy to study and perform. She arrived as a developing singer. She left with international performance experience on her resume and the technique to back it up.

Cynthia trained me for over seven years and got me into dozens of theatrical productions and even accepted into a summer opera program that traveled to Italy to study and perform. She taught me professionalism and how to be confident in auditions and rehearsals. Her faith in my talent even at such a young age allowed me to achieve amazing things.

National choir placements and competition results

Carol Adams enrolled her daughter Claire with me, and the results were measurable and fast. Claire successfully auditioned for and performed with regional, state, and national high school choirs. She also placed in other competitive performance events. Claire has specific learning and communication needs, and I addressed them from day one.

Cynthia immediately determined what exactly Claire needed to work on to quickly elevate her performances and technique. Claire successfully auditioned for and performed with regional, state and national high school choirs, and has done very well in other performance events thanks to Cynthia’s personalized teaching strengths and deep experience. — Carol Adams

My students have also competed nationally at NAfME and NATS, two of the most prestigious music competitions in the United States, and earned spots in national choirs alongside singers from across the country.

Years of progress, from nervous beginner to confident singer

Linda Varela came to me as an adult beginner who had always wanted to sing but had been too shy to try. She has been my student since summer 2017.

I had always wanted to learn to sing but had been too shy and insecure to seek out a voice teacher. I remember being very nervous before my lesson with Cynthia, but she made me feel comfortable right away. My singing ability and confidence have improved greatly. — Linda Varela

What students say about the teaching

Her extensive background in knowing the voice is amazing. Whether you are a beginner or experienced singer, she’s the best of the best. — Marianna Ibarra

I noticed immediate improvement in my voice when I started taking lessons with her. — Celeste Noelle

Speech Training Outcomes

Accent clarity noticed by colleagues and patients within two weeks

Natthida Nonprasert came to me for accent training. The results were noticeable to the people around her faster than either of us expected.

People at work, co-workers, and patients have noticed I am speaking better. A patient commented that my accent was more understandable since she talked to me on the phone two weeks ago. I would surely recommend Cynthia for accent training. — Natthida Nonprasert

A physician improving professional communication

Zafar Kaleen, MD came to me to improve his English communication skills. He is a physician for whom being clearly understood is not a preference. It is a professional requirement.

She is completely professional and an awesome teacher. She is highly qualified in teaching English speaking. She helps to improve your deficiencies and really works hard to make you feel better with your speaking. The lessons were very productive and helpful. She understood my needs immediately. — Zafar Kaleen, MD

From fear to presence

Some of my speech training students arrive shaking. I use a graduated approach, incremental steps that build tolerance and confidence over time, the same principle used in psychological desensitization. Students who came in unable to speak in front of others have left with control, clarity, and real presence.

Professionals performing at the highest level

My speech training clients include college professors who address hundreds of students at a time, attorneys who argue in court, executives who lead rooms, and aspiring speakers who need to hold an audience. James Cerasia, an attorney, put it this way:

Absolutely wonderful for singing and speech lessons. A true joy to work with Cynthia as she’s not only warmhearted, but also incredibly knowledgeable in her craft. I cannot recommend a better instructor to learn from. — James Cerasia

Voice Rehabilitation Outcomes

Recovering from surgery, nodules, and vocal cord conditions

My rehabilitation students have come back from nodules, polyps, edema, and other diagnosed vocal cord conditions. Recovery is structured, evidence-based, and built around a specific diagnosis in collaboration with ENTs and Speech-Language Pathologists. It is not general coaching applied to a medical problem.

Danielle Marsh came to me with challenges resulting from past neck surgeries that made singing physically difficult.

She has done so much to help me as I strive to reach my maximum potential. Her knowledge in voice and speech have helped me in ways that I never could have imagined. — Danielle Marsh

Recovery after stroke

Shabba XL began lessons with me three months after experiencing a stroke.

I was recovering from a stroke 3 months ago and I enjoy her lessons. She really makes it fun. — Shabba XL

Professional voice users whose livelihoods were at stake

Among my rehabilitation students are auctioneers and music teachers for whom losing their voice is not an inconvenience. It is a career-ending event. These students have recovered and returned to the work that depends on their voice.
